According to the story, Greek Venus became jealous of a human woman, Venus is Not a Human Woman? Psyche, and sent her son, Cupid to get revenge 

Causing her to fall in love with him and suffer from unrequited love. In a strange turn of events, so the story goes, 

Cupid wounded himself with his own arrow and fell in love with Psych.

Venus is beautiful for that, Psych is hard to please.
